WTA’s “Fem Four” Are Making Women’s Tennis Exciting

With men's tennis dominated for the present by the "Fab Four" of Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray, the WTA is touting its own sense of competitiveness in the top ranks. With the top five save Maria Sharapova somewhat anonymous to the general public, the women's game needs all the help it can get to realize its profile.

Sharapova, winner of three majors and the cover girl for the sport at world No. 2, says things are not as grim as they might seem. "There is a lot of depth, a lot of players have the chance to get to that (top) stage," said the Los Angeles-based Russian.

Federer is Ready to Give Blue Clay Courts a Chance in Madrid

Unlike elite rivals Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal who firmly oppose the plan, Swiss diplomat-in-disguise Roger Federer is prepared to take a wait-and-see attitude to the controversial use of blue clay courts at the Madrid Masters starting next weekend.

Petkovic Suffers Significant Injury

Tragic German Andrea Petkovic will miss three more months of play and could require surgery after badly damaging her ankle during a match at the Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart. The leader of the nation's latest women's tennis revolution and a style-setter off court was playing in only her third match back after missing four months with a back problem.
