*Venus’ World. Since age 14,
Venus Williams has been one
of professional tennis’ most
exciting, successful and
enigmatic stars. Her
on-court resume includes six
Grand Slam singles titles,
six Grand Slam doubles
titles, and two Olympic gold
medals – but that’s only
part of her story. Off the
court, Williams is the CEO
of her own interior design
company, a fashion designer
with her own signature line
and a recent graduate of the
Art Institute of Fort
Lauderdale, all of which
she’s accomplished while
remaining one of the
top-ranked players in the
world. REAL SPORTS host
Bryant Gumbel sits down with
the usually private reigning
Wimbledon champion to
discuss her successes on and
off the court, her love life
and her fight for equal
prize money in women’s
tennis.
Producer: Tim Walker.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Venus Williams: “I’m not
into being a celebrity… like
sometimes though, if you
ride in coach on the plane,
you get upgraded…now that’s
fun!”
Bryant Gumbel: “Wait a
second, when you fly back to
LA, you do not fly in coach
class?”
Venus: “Yes.”
Bryant: “You do not.”
Venus: “Yes. Because I feel
if I haven’t won a
tournament, then immediately
I am in coach. There are no
perks if you’re not doing
what you should do on the
court. Serena and I are
always trying to motivate
ourselves to do better. So
if we have a loss we
shouldn’t have had, it’s
coach until you win a couple
of tournaments. If you don’t
win that slam…Coach!”

Venus on her relationship
with professional golfer
Hank Kuehne:
Bryant: “You love him?”
Venus: “Why do you have to
be asking that? I hate
talking about my private
life like this.”
Bryant: “I'm simply asking,
do you love him?
Venus: “I think he's a great
guy. I love him. Thanks,
Bryant. That's against every
rule that Serena and I have
made up.”
Bryant: “That's okay. It's
always guys who don't say
the L word.”
Venus: “I know. But it's
very uncomfortable.”
Bryant: “Does he love you?”
Venus: “He’d better.”
