French Open Increases Prize Money

Prize money at next month's French Open will increase to 22 million Euros ($29 million) in response to healthy rises made by its Grand Slam competitors. The rises are designed to placate player discontent with their earnings, which has surfaced over the past few seasons as the full extent of the massive income of the major events is revealed. 

 

Djokovic And Nadal Will Wait To Decide To Play Monte Carlo

Novak Djokovic will make a last-minute decision on the fitness of hi injured ankle, with the top seed keen to try and make his scheduled start at the Monte Carlo Masters this week.

Nadal has pronounced himself cautiously fit after flying to the principality and getting in several days of hitting on the clay of the Country Club.

 

Putin Is Concerned About The Status Of Russian Men’s Tennis

It appears that even Russian president Vladimir Putin is concerned by the sad shape of men's tennis in the nation - at least that's the impression given by disappointed national tennis chief Shamil Tarpishchev.

"I met with Vladimir. He gave the order to make a tennis development program, and now we're going to carry it out," said the always-mysterious Tarpishchev.

Georgia’s Wallace Earns 600th Career Victory

Georgia women’s tennis coach Jeff Wallace earned his 600th career victory becoming the third coach in NCAA women’s tennis history to achieve that mark.

The City of Coronado, California, is requesting proposals from qualified individuals or companies to provide retail tennis merchandise concessionaire services at the reconstructed Tennis Center.

Proposals may be obtained at the Coronado Community Center, 1845 Strand Way, Coronado, CA  92118, by emailing sdownes@coronado.ca.us,, on the City of Coronado’s website, www.coronado.ca.us, or by calling (619) 522-2451.
