Djokovic Named US Open Men’s Top Seed

The USTA announced that world No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia, the reigning Australian Open champion and the 2011 US Open champion, has been named the top seed in men’s singles at the 2013 US Open.

Djokovic, a six-time Grand Slam champion, will be followed by No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal of Spain, the reigning French Open champion and 2010 US Open champion; No. 3 seed Andy Murray of Great Britain, the defending US Open champion and reigning Wimbledon champion; and No. 4 seed David Ferrer of Spain,  a 2012 US Open semifinalist. Five-time US Open champion Roger Federer of Switzerland, will be seeded at No. 7.

Murray Is Coming To New York As The Defending Champion

As long as Andy Murray has been traveling the tennis circuit, be it as a wide-eyed junior or now as the defending champion of the US Open, his favorite port of call has always been New York. And though not a creature of habit, he hopes things are pretty much the same as usual in the Big Apple this year.

Nadal And Williams Clinch US Open Series Titles

Rafael Nadal clinched the 2013 Emirates Airline US Open Series men’s title when John Isner officially withdrew from the Winston-Salem Open in Winston-Salem, N.C., due to a hip injury. Isner was the only player who could have overtaken Nadal in the Emirates Airline US Open Series standings.

Serena Williams clinched the 2013 Emirates Airline US Open Series women’s title on Saturday by defeating China’s Li Na in the semifinals of the Western & Southern Open.

Top Seeds Withdraw From Winston Salem

The air went out of this week's Winston Salem Open when two of the top three seeds withdrew before the start, leaving Italy's Andreas Seppi to the field in the last ATP tournament prior to Monday's start of the US Open. Cincinnati finalist John Isner, a local boy, and Czech Tomas Berdych, a Cincinnati semi-finalist who put out Andy Murray before losing to Rafael Nadal, both citing injuries.

Djokovic Is Second Player To Qualify For ATP Finals

Novak Djokovic will attempt to retain his title at the 2013 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, after becoming the second singles player to qualify for the event, to be held at The O2 in London from November 4-11. He has secured his place at the season finale for the seventh straight year.

Roddick Is Moving From The Court To The Studio

Andy Roddick is trying to make his transition from tennis to the media working world of an ex-jock as effortless as possible. With his debut at the weekend on FoxSports, the 30-year-old who retired suddenly after his loss at the US Open in 2012 has made the switch with minimal fuss.

Djokovic, Murray, Bryans And McEnroe’s To Play Madison Square Garden

Some of the biggest names in tennis take to The Garden court, March 3, 2014 as the crown jewel of World Tennis Day at the BNP Paribas Showdown.

The event will feature a major tennis’ rivalry: Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, as well as, for the first time in its history, a unique  brothers doubles match with John and Patrick McEnroe teaming up to take on Mike and Bob Bryan, arguably the best doubles team of all-time. The doubles match, which begins at 7:00 p.m., will be an eight-game pro set followed by a best-of-three sets for the singles match.
