Federer Surprises With Plans To Play Doubles In Shanghai With Chinese Player

Roger Federer has dropped a bombshell in the run-up to next month's Shanghai Masters which looks to amount to little more than a publicity stunt. The world tennis icon is set to play doubles with China's national No. 1 but 180th-ranked Zhang Ji.

Murray Suggests Mandatory Davis Cup Participation

A two year absence from representing his country in the Davis Cup would seem to suggest Andy Murray does not rate the importance of the competition too highly. However the Wimbledon champion and world no.3 has revealed he would dearly love to play more and feels the demands of the ATP Tour force top players to skip some ties.

Cilic Trying To Get Failed Drug Test Overturned

While Croatia began their attempt to remain in the Davis Cup’s World Group in Umag, the nation’s leading player Marin Cilic was ironically in London to present his appeal against the results of a failed anti-doping test in Munich nearly five months ago.

Nadal Will Play Davis Cup In Madrid

US Open champion Rafael Nadal will ride to the rescue for Spain only four days after winning the US Open, with the world No. 2 determined to keep his powerful tennis nation from slipping out of the elite World Group of the international competition. Spain lost to Canada in the first round to itself in the playoffs for the first time in nearly two decades.

Weakened Argentina Squad Looks For Davis Cup Revenge

Argentina went into its 2012 Davis Cup semifinal against the Czech Republic at home thinking it had a great shot at reaching the finals as they were playing on clay, but top player Juan Martin Del Potro was only able to play his singles opener due to a wrist injury

Argentina will get a chance to wash away the memories of that tie this coming weekend in Prague when it faces the defending champion Czechs once again.

Djokovic Vows To Be Ready For Davis Cup

US Open finalist Novak Djokovic promises to shake off his jet-lag when he makes his Davis Cup start 48 hours after arriving from New York, where his personal charity hosted a star-packed gala a day after his losing match against Rafael Nadal . The world No. 1 would not miss his country's semi-final date with newcomer Canada under any circumstances and says that even if he's tired he will be ready for his opening singles challenge against Vasek Pospisil.
