Serena Williams is the overwhelming favorite to become the first player to successfully defend the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships title since Justine Henin in 2007 but the world no.1 maintains she has been placed in the toughest group for round robin play throughout the week in Istanbul.

 

 

Federer Is Playing In Switzerland And Is Determined To Win

Roger Federer is ready to start making amends for his poor season and is determined to make a winning start at his home Swiss Indoors after winning the local trophy five times from nine finals. His showcase match against Adrian Mannarino was his first test in the fight to earn one of the last places for the year-end finals in London.

It’s hard to imagine former US Open champion Gabriela Sabatini as a shy young girl these days as she traipses the globe comfortably promoting her line of perfume and cosmetics.

But there was a time when she was an up and coming player that she was so  besieged by media attention that she claimed to have deliberately lost matches so she wouldn't have to talk to the press.

 

Kvitova Arrives Early In Istanbul And Is Raring To Go

Former champion Petra Kvitova was among the first to arrive for this week's WTA Championships in Istanbul, with the Czech more than happy to be back in the thick of the wrap-up week after being unable to complete the event a year ago.

 

 

 

Sharapova Is Starting To Be Missed

Maria Sharapova's months-long shoulder injury absence from the WTA is starting to take on a life of its own - at least in Bulgaria, the home country of boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov.

Sharapova spent last week in Stockholm, where her man was playing in an ATP event. She withdrew weeks ago from this week's WTA Championships in Istanbul. The Sharapova camp has nothing to say on her personal life.

A professional tennis photographer has been shooting for almost 40 years at all the major and minor tennis tournaments for the wires systems, daily newspapers, magazines and advertising agencies. He has been to venues all over the world and has compiled tennis images (archives) of all the professionals and some juniors.  The images have all been preserved in a temperature-controlled environment and are color positives (slides), color and black & white negatives and contact sheets, as well as digital.
