The Injured Robson Will Be In Wimbledon, But In A Broadcast Booth

Laura Robson is adjusting to being in the booth instead of on the court at this year's Wimbledon. With the 20-year-old still sidelined following wrist surgery, she will be taking part in the tournament as a commentator for BBC.


Dancevic Complains About Wimbledon Player Services

Canada’s Frank Dancevic may have benefited from the charity of the All England Club after being allowed into the Men’s Singles draw as a lucky loser and therefore guaranteeing himself a £27,500 win. But it didn’t stop him making a furious written attack at the tournament, or more accurately the Wimbledon Player Services.


Chicago To Host Davis Cup Playoff Between The U.S. and Slovakia

The USTA and U.S. Davis Cup Captain Jim Courier announced that the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, has been selected as the site for the 2014 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Playoff between the United States and Slovakia, Sept. 12-14. The arena will feature an indoor hard court and will have an expected capacity of approximately 7,000.  


Toronto To Offer “Art Of Tennis” Promotion

Tennis Canada announced the introduction of a new theme for the 2014 Rogers Cup presented by National Bank in Toronto – “The Art of Tennis”.

Combining art and tennis in creative ways around the grounds, the theme will be incorporated via different forms including music, painting, landscaping, sculpture and graphic design.


Senior Coach At Junior Tennis Champions Center

Junior Tennis Champions Center, a certified Regional Training Center and 2013 Developmental Program of the Year in the US, is seeking a senior coach.

JTCC is  committed to producing the highest caliber of players and coaches in the country. JTCC has a complete proven pathway from U10 to Grand Slam and college tennis as well as an excellent internal coaching education program. This position aims to address both of these aspects in seeking an experienced individual who is dedicated to high performance player development. The position will provide the opportunity to work closely with senior directors Vesa Ponkka and Frank Salazar – two of the top developmental coaches in the country who were each recognized as the United States Olympic Coach of the Year.  In addition, this position will also have the opportunity to work with JTCC advisors, Pat Etcheberry and Mats Wilander.

Organization Overview

Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a world-class junior developmental training program operating at the Tennis Center at College Park, MD. Selected as the first United States Tennis Association Regional Training Center, JTCC provides a pathway for players from their introduction to the game to top-tier collegiate and professional competition. The Tennis Center at College Park, which was named a 2013 USTA Facility of the Year, is a 32-court full service club located conveniently to serve the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

A candidate should possess the following:

§  Professional and/or DI playing experience
§  5 plus years of prior high performance coaching experience
§  Leadership and management skills
§  Availability to travel locally, nationally and internationally (6-8 weeks per year)
§  Positive attitude and strong work ethic
§  Energy and enthusiasm for growing the game of tennis
§  USPTA/PTR certification
§  If hired, applicant must provide paperwork to prove that he/she can be employed legally in the United States.

Position Description: Brigham Young University has an opening for a part-time Men’s Tennis assistant coach. The assistant coach will support the head coach in all aspects of the men’s tennis program, including but not limited to recruiting, team scheduling, player development, and alumni and booster relations.

·         Bachelor’s degree required
·         Division I coaching and/or playing pro tour-level experience preferred
·         Experience coaching high-level players preferred
·         Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
·         Knowledge of and commitment to the BYU Honor Code

USTA New England Executive Director

USTA New England is seeking a dynamic and proven leader to serve as Executive Director. Headquartered in Westborough, Massachusetts, the Executive Director (ED) will work with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, partners and all stakeholders to implement USTA New England policies, execute the Strategic Plan provided by the Board, manage the day-to-day operations, and carry forth our mission to promote and develop the growth of tennis. 

The Organization

USTA New England (USTANE), a 501(C)4 nonprofit organization, is one of 17 sections of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the national governing body for the sport of tennis. The USTA owns and operates the US Open, the largest annually attended sporting event in the world, and the 94 Pro Circuit events through the US.  It selects the teams for the Davis Cup, Fed Cup, Olympic and Paralympic teams.  With 772,000 members, USTA invests 100% of its proceeds to promote and develop the growth of tennis, from the grassroots to the professional level.

Founded in 1927 as the New England Lawn Tennis Association, USTANE now serves more than 34,000 individual members, 500 organizational members, and 475 volunteers.   With a $3 million budget and staff of 18, USTANE increases participation in the sport in New England by offering quality recreational and competitive programs for people of all ages and abilities.

Key Responsibilities and Focus Areas for the Executive Director


§  Work closely with the Board, State Associations, staff and stakeholders to effectively implement and execute USTANE's Strategic Plan

§  Provide services and resources to manage all programs and opportunities to promote, develop and grow the game of tennis

§  Create and develop new strategies that will lead the organization to the next level of growth and increase tennis participation in New England

§  Serve as an advocate and spokesperson for USTANE

§  Represent USTANE at USTA National Meetings, Executive Directors Meetings, and with State Associations, partners, and all stakeholders throughout New England


§  Take responsibility for the overall business operations of USTANE, including program development and delivery, marketing, financial and budget administration, supervision of staff, and implementation of the Strategic Plan

§  Demonstrate effective communication, collaboration, and team building

§  Manage and develop a high-performing team and foster growth and development among the staff

§  Provide essential support, training and leadership to all staff in executing and achieving goals and objectives


§     Collaborate and build key relationships internally and externally, with staff, members and volunteers
